Jamaica on my Mind
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, our hearts remain with the people of Jamaica.

The storm may have passed, but its impact continues to touch families, communities, and the emotional well-being of so many. As we reflect on the Jamaican clients we have served over the years through court referrals, schools, the Department of Children and Families, and after inpatient hospitalization, we are reminded of how deeply trauma, loss, and uncertainty shape the healing journey.

We are honored to have walked beside our Jamaican community during difficult seasons. Many of the individuals we have supported carried layers of unspoken pain, unresolved grief, and untreated mental health challenges that often made their paths heavier. Today, as Jamaica rebuilds from hurricane Melissa, our commitment to care remains stronger than ever.
Our MissionOur mission continues to focus on helping Jamaicans manage distress, process this trauma, regulate intense emotions, and restore emotional safety. Healing after a natural disaster takes time, compassion, and community support, and we are here to offer steady guidance and care.

Future Plans to Support Survivors and Their Families:
As Jamaica rebuilds, will continue to serve the many families living in Connecticut, South Carolina, and Florida who are deeply affected by the crisis back home. Our expanded care will include:
• Grief and loss counseling for families grieving loved ones, damaged homes, and disrupted routines
• Emotional support for individuals struggling with fear, worry, and helplessness as they wait for daily updates from loved ones in Jamaica

• Trauma informed techniques to help those who witnessed the disaster or are experiencing secondary trauma
• Family healing sessions that create space for shared stories, emotional processing, and strengthening family bonds
• Guidance and coping strategies for managing stress while supporting relatives who are rebuilding their lives in Jamaica

Our Core Objectives
• Reducing emotional overwhelm, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm behaviors
• Supporting clients as they rebuild emotional stability and restore hope
• Encouraging resilience, unity, and compassion in every community we reach

At the heart of everything is HOPE.
We are here to help Jamaicans and their families heal, grow, and thrive, especially now when healing is needed the most.
